Temecula Valley Wine Festival

Temecula Valley BalloonFirst weekend of June at Lake Skinner Recreation Area in the Southern California Temecula Valley AVA.

The event features morning balloon launches, evening balloon glows, wine tasting from more than 20 wineries, wine competition, food and wine pairing, concerts featuring country on Friday, Classic Rock and Rock on Saturday, and Jazz on Sunday. There is also a giant arts and craft faire, kids faire, and fine art paintings on exhibit within the wine gardens.

The Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival,

then known as the Rancho California Balloon and Wine Festival, was started in 1983 by Walt Darren, a commercial airline pilot and avid balloonist and by Evelyn Harker a veteran event organizer and fund raiser. The seed money was provided by Kaiser Development Company and sponsors came from the local community giving what they could with many contributions consisting of in-kind services and products.
At this time, there were only six wineries in the region.

There are over 30 wineries in the region now.

The first Balloon and Wine Festival was launched in the Spring of 1984 and was a monumental success for a town of only 9,000 residents. More than 4,000 people were in attendance that year as 35 balloons were launched from the Rancho California Plaza area off Ynez Road (now Tower Plaza).

As the Festival grew, music was added and the event was moved to the Sports Park.

In 1986 as the event continued to grow, it was moved to Cherry Avenue and the first ever poster contest was held. During 1987-1988, the Festival was moved back to the Sports Park and in 1989, it was moved to its current location at Lake Skinner. In 1988, the Festival featured live entertainment with the Coasters and Little Anthony and the Imperials. In 1991 the Beach Boys entertained.

The Future of Broadcasting

Everyone who carries a smart phone has a way to watch a youtube video.

Most people that travel have one. Most all new flat screen televisions now connect to the internet and have a YouTube channel.

half-page-LC flyeri

This means that YouTube is the future of broadcasting

for the companies that can't afford television commercials. Making YouTube the most effective way to tell about your company and

reach the public with a 24/7 on-demand presentation

of your company reaching the largest audience possible. Get 3 videos made and we will build a video channel for you.

On the Union Road Wine Trail you will find Barr Estate Winery, Here is their story.

"As native New Orleanians, we grew up in a culture of great jazz and good food. French wine was the principal accompliment to New Orleans cuisine at the time.

Living in Europe during the 70's and 80's, enhanced our wine experience

and appreciation of European wines. In the 90's we returned to California and developed a greater appreciation of California wines.
After working for an international company for thirty years, we decided to start a second career dedicated to growing grapes and making great wines at affordable prices that enhance the culinary experience. After searching for a vineyard, we settled on the Central Coast of California in Paso Robles in 2007. It is still a place where the vineyard farmer and the wine maker are the same person and winemaking starts in the vineyard.
Our son, Geoff, moved to the vineyard in early 2008 to be part of the family vineyard and winery. His love of the outdoors and interest in learning about growing grapes prompted his move to Paso Robles. Much of his first two years have been dedicated to improving the 46 acre vineyard which was in its 7th leaf when we bought it.

All his work is showing up in the quality of the wine grapes.

Ten acres were grafted over to new varietals in 2008. An additional 1.5 acres of Petite Sirah were planted in 2009. Sustainable farming practices are being implemented with a goal of achieving certification in 2011.
The climate and soils are also well suited for olive production. In 2008, 300 Tuscan varietals were planted. The trees are doing well and first olive oil bottling is planned in 2011."

On the Union Road Wine Trail you will find Clautiere Vineyard.

The creative forces behind Clautiere Vineyard are Claudine Blackwell and Terry Brady. Between them they boast a number of diverse positions in their lifetime, such as fashion designer, welder, landscape designer, restaurant owner and as of late, winemaker.

Since moving to Paso Robles in July 1999,

the couple has, over time, given new life to the 145 acre ranch. Converting the farm house into a vibrant, colorful & energetic tasting room, gift shop and commercial kitchen.

The barn has been turned into a theater with a built in stage and sound system used by bands and entertainers

to perform on during parties. The property is decorated with a 230 foot entry fence, metal sculptures and mosaics that were all designed and crafted by Claudine.

The Maloy O'Neill Vineyards  is dedicated to making the highest quality wines.

Here you are shown how to get to the Union Road Wine Trail. The winemaker points out several wineries close to him and why the area is growing for wine production.

There are lots of benefits to visiting this area.

Learn about the history of his vineyard. The areas of Paso Robles has a variety of micro climates that produces one on the most diverse types of grapes
